Today’s Wordle #736 Hints, Clues And Answer For Sunday, June 25th

I’m officially back from vacation. We went to Montana for my grandma’s 90th birthday, which was a pretty major event, drawing family and extended family and even more extended family from all the far-flung places, to gather and eat and catch up and—it struck me at one point—probably never see one another again. Some of us will, some of us won’t, but there will never be another gathering like this one.

Now home and filled with gratitude. There are many reasons to travel. We see wondrous, marvelous, strange things. We learn a bit about how other people in distant lands live. The world becomes both a little more vast and a little less daunting. But more than anything, we understand Dorothy’s mantra: There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home. There’s no place like home.

Let’s follow the yellow-and-green block road to the end of this Wordle, shall we?

How To Solve Today’s Wordle #736 (Sunday June 25th)

The Hint: Cowboy competition.

The Clue: This word has a double letter.

The Answer:

.

.

.

RODEO!

Wordle Bot Analysis

Well I certainly had either a moment of genius or luck with today’s Wordle. Every now and then I swear I have a psychic connection to this game, before being disabused of this notion rather quickly by a streak of bad guesses. Today, however, was a day that inspires faith in the uncanny and supernatural.

My opening guess, drain, was in fact a bit negative. I was feeling drained, I suppose, after days traveling and ongoing health issues. But somehow, drain ended up being an excellent opening guess, leaving me with just 37 guesses, though I didn’t know that at the time.

Once I had the two yellow boxes in mind, and knew that I needed all new vowels, one of the very first words that came to me was rodeo, mainly because I was trying to come up with words with an ‘R’ in the first spot. I figured, at the very least this would try out the letters I had in new boxes and rule out two more vowels. I wasn’t expecting each box to turn over green on my second guess, but they did. Huzzah!

Today’s Score:

I get 2 points for guessing in two and 1 point for beating the Bot who took four guesses to get the Wordle, for a grand total of 3 points! Huzzah again! All the huzzahs!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “rodeo” is of Spanish origin, derived from the Spanish verb “rodear,” which means “to surround” or “to encircle.” The term originally referred to a traditional way of rounding up cattle or working with livestock in the open range. The word “rodeo” was first used in Mexico in the early 19th century to describe a cattle roundup or a gathering of animals for branding, sorting, or other purposes.

As the tradition of these events spread northward into the United States, the term “rodeo” became more widely used to describe the organized competitions and exhibitions of skills that took place during these gatherings. Rodeos typically involve various events such as bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, and bronc riding.

Over time, the term “rodeo” has become internationally recognized and is now used to describe similar events and competitions in many countries around the world, even though the original Spanish meaning of “rodeo” pertained specifically to the cattle roundup activities.

Play Competitive Wordle Against Me!

I’ve been playing a cutthroat game of PvP Wordle against my nemesis Wordle But. Now you should play against me! I can be your nemesis! (And your helpful Wordle guide, of course). You can also play against the Bot if you have a New York Times subscription.

  • Here are the rules:1 point for getting the Wordle in 3 guesses.
  • 2 points for getting it in 2 guesses.
  • 3 points for getting it in 1 guess.
  • 1 point for beating Erik
  • 0 points for getting it in 4 guesses.
  • -1 point for getting it in 5 guesses.
  • -2 points for getting it in 6 guesses.
  • -3 points for losing.
  • -1 point for losing to Erik

You can either keep a running tally of your score if that’s your jam or just play day-to-day if you prefer.

I’d love it if you gave me a follow on Twitter or Facebook dearest Wordlers. Have a lovely day!

As always, I’d love it if you’d follow me here on this blog and subscribe to my YouTube channel and my Substack so you can stay up-to-date on all my TV, movie and video game reviews and coverage. Thanks!
